Housing Supported Worker
SUMMARY OF ROLE
Your primary goal is to empower Optimism Supported Housing’s vulnerable tenants that have learning disabilities, mental health challenges, or histories of substance misuse, offending behaviours and homelessness. To provide housing-related support and maintain housing solutions within an environment that promotes personal independence and makes a contribution to the delivery of high-quality housing services for them to lead fulfilling lives.
Core Responsibilities
• Tenancy Management: Assisting residents with rent payments, understanding their tenancy agreements, and managing household utilities or repairs.
• Daily Living Skills: Providing hands-on coaching for “”life skills”” such as meal planning, grocery shopping, cleaning, and personal hygiene.
• Financial Guidance: Helping individuals manage their budgets, navigate the benefits system, and develop healthy spending habits.
• Emotional & Social Support: Offering a listening ear, helping residents manage their mental well-being, and encouraging participation in community activities or employment.
• Advocacy: Acting as a liaison between the resident and external agencies like social services, doctors, or the local council.
• Health & Safety: Conducting regular risk assessments and ensuring the living environment remains safe and compliant with regulations.
